MVP's Diagnostic Laboratory has provided swine and bovine veterinarians and their clients with reliable, accurate, and timely diagnostic services since 1984. With state-of-the-art facilities, MVP is one of the few laboratories in the U.S. that can successfully isolate all species of Mycoplasmas.

MVP has implemented assays to quantify the production of alpha toxin and beta 2 toxin from any given Clostridium perfringens isolate. This technology assures our clients that the vaccine produced actually contains the protective antigens as many isolates do not carry these virulence genes or express them.

MVP has developed proprietary technology for isolation and growth of Cl. difficile, an organism that is exceedingly difficult to grow to an acceptable antigen mass. MVP's Cl. difficile vaccines have been very successful in the field.

MVP has created immunohistochemistry staining techniques for the detection of microorganisms in tissue and the use of Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) to identify, characterize, and genotype microorganisms.

MVP pioneered the characterization of Actinobacillus pleuropneumoniae and Streptococcus suis through serotyping.
